Key Responsibilities:


  • Draft wills, codicils and powers of attorney.
  • Attend and witness signing meetings with lawyer and clients.
  • Prepare and file probate applications with the court
  • Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on file progress.
  • Assist in the administration of estates, including preparing inventories of assets and liabilities.
  • Take minutes and dictation, maintain filing systems, draft correspondence and scheduling meetings.
  • Coordinate with financial institutions, accountants, government agencies, and beneficiaries.
  • Conduct legal research and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, under supervision of the lawyer of record.
  • Other general and administration office work as required (ie answer calls, schedule appointments, conduct conflict searches, open files, etc.).


Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of experience working in wills and estate law.
  • The ability to meet strict deadlines and to work independently with minimal training.
  • Have advanced organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple files at once.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients, lawyers, and officials.
  • Computer skills and the ability to pick up new technologies quickly.
  • Willing to work out of our Rockland office a minimum of three days a week.
  • Bilingual (English and French) is mandatory.
