As the People + Culture (P+C) Generalist, you will be responsible for the execution of P+C programs and processes to ensure the most effective utilization of people resources needed to maximize business and employee performance. The P+C Generalist will ensure that direct support is provided to the employees within assigned properties in the areas of recruitment, training, learning & development, employee relations, Health & Safety/WSIB, performance management, and compensation & benefits administration.

  • Respond to employee/management requests for information on a timely basis
  • Provide Orientation training sessions and various learning programs
  • Support Business Partners assigned client groups in the areas of benefits, employee relations, rewards & recognition, learning & development, organizational effectiveness and health & safety
  • Provide coaching & counseling to management teams within assigned locations
  • Act as operational business partner to management teams within assigned locations
  • Process new hire benefit and pension applications in related systems and continuously review & reconcile new enrolments and terminations in tandem with the HR Coordinator
  • Work with our Manager, People + Culture to coordinate & execute annual Performance Review & Merit increase program
  • Together with Manager, People + Culture, coordinate & execute annual STIP program
  • Team up with our Talent Acquisition Specialist to proactively identify recruitment needs and build talent pipelines
  • Aid the Talent Acquisition Specialist to register, prepare for and attend career fairs and employer events at Universities & Colleges
  • Work alongside the Talent Acquisition Specialist in the recruitment of internship & co-op students
  • Work alongside the People + Culture Coordinator and Manager, Payroll to ensure all payroll paperwork is correctly entered into the systems
  • Be a contributor to the strong P+C team who all are dedicated to provide a Great Place to Work for all employees
  • Effectively execute, track and trend exit interview process
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

To excel in this role, we are looking for candidates who are self-starters, customer focused and have strong business competence. If this opportunity sounds interesting to you, you likely have the following attributes:

  • 3-5 years experience in a HR and recruitment environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
  • Must have an accredited HR Certificate from a registered organisation
  • CHRP/CHRL preferred
  • Strong understanding of employment laws
  • Excellent MS Office Suite skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication & customer service skills with the ability to leverage partnerships and influence others in a multi-site environment
  • A self-starter with solid decision making skills
  • Must be discreet in nature and have a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to work well within time constraints, prioritise tasks and adapt effectively in a high-demand, fast-paced and adjusting environment
  • Ability to “think outside the box” and question existing tasks/methodologies
