Brief Summary of the job:

A Technical Product Manager is responsible for working directly with our school boards to investigate issues, process and adapt feedback to the rest of the development team, organize and prioritize tasks, and provide quality assurance testing on new features or bug fixes. This is aposition that provides an excellent opportunity to learn and grow in the area of product management.

Its key performance metric is ensuring regular value is delivered to our school boards. This role will work closely with the CEO and CTO to interpret feedback, document requests, and prioritize development work. They will also work closely with our account management and support team to ensure exceptional school board happiness.

Responsibilities

  • Working with school boards to understand feature requests for our products and translate them into user stories with acceptance and testing criteria in collaboration with the agile team leads, CEO, and CTO
  • Working directly with school boards over email, phone, and video conference to investigate and triage issues in collaboration with our support team
  • Managing timelines, timetables, feature prioritization, and working with the CTO to ensure tasks are staying on track and informing stakeholders of any delays or challenges
  • Advocating for both functional and non-functional tasks and negotiating with stakeholders for time and priority
  • Measure product and product success using quantifiable metrics
  • Presenting and writing about new features for our school boards through community webinars, community sprints, in one-on-one sessions, and in person
  • Work with the CEO to develop a road map for our most active projects
  • Work with the Director of Community and our creative team to build marketing materials

Expectations

  • The successful applicant must have at least two years of experience in a software development or corresponding background
  • Maintain an organized, prioritized and well-defined backlog for all products
  • Ensure a single source of truth for requests and verified bugs so details are not lost
  • Schedule and lead planning, backlog, daily sprint, and community sprint meetings
  • Verify sprint feature or bug tickets for completeness and prioritize any missing user stories, acceptance criteria, or testing criteria for upcoming sprints
  • Maintain product forecasting, projection and release burndown charts
  • Testing new features to ensure alignment with business and usability requirements
  • Exceptional organizational skills and extraordinary attention to details that the average person would miss
  • Strong arbitration and negotiation skills
  • Strong presentation skills and a desire to make real connections with people
  • Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and Agile project management
  • Professional training in product ownership or project management are strong assets
  • Although our team works remotely and most meetings and training are handled online, there are rare times where this role may require on-site travel for limited periods as well as for on-site team functions
  • Previous experience with K-12 education is an asset
