Serv-It Bailiff Services Inc. is a privately held company incorporated in the Province of Alberta. We are a Civil Enforcement Agency licensed and regulated by the Province of Alberta Department of Justice pursuant to the Civil Enforcement Act and Regulation.

We employ individuals who work in our offices, in the field or both. We contract bailiffs, licensed by the Alberta Government, Office of the Sheriff: Civil Enforcement, to act on our behalf. Independent Contractor Civil Enforcement Bailiff's act in the name of Serv-It Bailiff Services, under company direction and control.

We are currently seeking an individual to train as a new Civil Enforcement Bailiff in the province of Alberta. The service area to cover will include Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Edson, Hinton and beyond.

The training can take up to 8 weeks depending on the candidate. The training is designed to get you prepared to challenge the Civil Enforcement Bailiff exam. Training consists classroom training and in the field. Candidates may have three attempts to pass the exam. You will need to score 80% or higher on the test to pass. The test is 4 hours and is open book.

A Civil Enforcement Bailiff provides services of vehicle recovery, process serving and enforcement of court orders. Bailiffs must be able to conduct investigations when needed. Provide clear and concise reports of all actions taken in the field.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • seizure and removal of personal property
  • evictions
  • process serving
  • Any other functions and duties provided for or permitted by the Civil Enforcement Act or any other enactment.

Minor Duties and Responsibilities

  • providing regular updates
  • taking photographs
  • completing condition reports
  • writing legal reports
  • organizing transports
  • working collaboratively with law enforcement agencies
  • conducting investigations

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Criminal Records Check
  • De-escalation certificate (can be completed during training)
  • Good credit bureau

Other

  • Must partake in a conflict resolution course.
  • Experience working with people from various cultures, legal industry, security industry, property, management and conflict management would all be considered an asset.
  • A reliable vehicle is necessary.
  • Basic computer skills is mandatory.

Job Type: Freelance

Pay: $25.00-$75.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
