Under the general supervision of the Clinic Manager (CM), The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) responsibilities include administrative tasks like scheduling, data entry, indexing, send referrals as required by the doctor. Also responsible for booking of appointments and checking patients in on arrival, reconciliation of private invoices and Medavie Blue cross submissions, and managing patient records,

The MOA is responsible for other clinical support such as taking vital signs as required by doctor, preparing exam rooms, managing and monitoring medical supplies stocks.

MOA will also handle patient interaction by greeting them, answering phones, providing information, maintaining a clean environment and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere in the medical office

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Medical Office Assistant Certificate or equivalent in education or past experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Microsoft Office and AVA EMR experience an asset but training can be offered
  • Previous related medical office experience is an asset

Job Skills and Demonstrated Abilities:

  • Sound knowledge of medical office procedures;
  • Strong skills in the use of computers, medical softwares, word processing systems and applications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and diagnostic tests;
  • Effective communication and good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to take initiative, multitask and work independently
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism, teamwork and commitment to the organization.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients, physicians, staff and public
  • Relevant clinical skills/knowledge
