BAR is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our Energy Division.

About the Position

The Procurement Specialist will play a key role in supporting project success by sourcing high quality materials and services in a cost effective and timely manner. The role involves working closely with project teams and clients to understand requirements, negotiate contracts, and ensure procurement aligns with project schedules and specifications. This position is critical in maintaining strong vendor relationships, optimizing purchasing strategies, and contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of engineering projects. This position may have the ability to work remotely depending on the successful candidate's level of experience. More specifically, your duties and responsibilities will be to:

  • Source, evaluate, and purchase materials for engineering projects.
  • Liaise with clients to understand requirements and support procurement expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Prepare purchase orders in compliance with company policies and client requirements.
  • Track market trends and provide recommendations on procurement strategies.
  • Collaborate with project teams to align procurement with schedules.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting.

About the Candidate

You will need a Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or Commerce with at least 5 years of experience, in purchasing or procurement.

Other Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in procurement or contract management, ideally in an engineering or construction environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in a mentorship role.
  • Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with colleagues.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A hands-on approach to problem-solving and an eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to anticipate next steps in the procurement process.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
