Senior Accountant (Audit) in Public Accounting
Position Overview:
A Senior Accountant plays a vital role in a public accounting firm, overseeing and managing the audit process for clients' financial records and statements. They ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations while providing expert advice and guidance to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and perform audits of clients' financial statements, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
Collaborate with the audit team to plan engagements, set objectives, and establish timelines.
Analyze financial statements and supporting documents to assess accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Prepare audit reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
Stay updated on accounting regulations and industry best practices.
Mentor junior team members and provide constructive feedback.
Cultivate strong client relationships and identify opportunities for value-added services.
Identify process improvements and incorporate new auditing tools and technologies.
Strong experience and knowledge of ASPE and/or IFRS accounting standards and regulations is required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA designation preferred).
Extensive experience (typically 3+) in auditing within public accounting.
Strong knowledge of accounting standards and regulations.
Proficiency in using audit software and tools.
Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
