We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper to support both our financial operations and overall business management.

Job Description:

As the Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper at Bosley's by Pet Valu, you will manage all accounting and bookkeeping functions while overseeing the store's weekly inventory orders. This role requires proficiency in QuickBooks, accuracy in maintaining financial records, and strong coordination with store management to ensure smooth business operations. You must also be comfortable being mobile within the store, as inventory ordering involves walking aisles to check product levels and restock needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle all accounting and bookkeeping functions for the company.
  • Order and manage all store inventory on a weekly basis.
  • Walk through store aisles regularly to check for sold-out or low-stock products.
  • Perform accounts reconciliation and ensure records are current.
  • Post transactions to the correct ledgers and accounts.
  • Complete bank reconciliations and verify financial accuracy.
  • Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
  • Reconcile sales data and record all transactions.
  • Process payments accurately and on schedule.
  • Prepare financial statements and monthly management reports.
  • Support audits and year-end financial filings.
  • Improve and maintain financial processes and systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Management, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in retail.
  • Pet industry bookkeeping experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and related accounting software.
  • Proven experience in AP/AR management, reconciliations, and sales reporting.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage inventory orders efficiently and work actively throughout the store.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Able to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.85 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • North Vancouver, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (required)

Experience:

  • Bookkeeping: 1 year (preferred)
  • Accounting: 1 year (preferred)
