The Ottawa office has an opening for a full-time Bilingual Geo Structural Designer. We are looking for the best and the brightest candidate to fill this role; the reward is a competitive salary (reviewed annually) and benefits package. Duties and responsibilities for this position will include:

• Assist Project Team using CAD skills to efficiently develop/revise retaining plan, cross sections & details for various structural projects with guidance from the Project Manager and/or engineer;
• Complete preliminary plan for take off and final shop drawings, using multiple different commercial segmental block products or cast in place concrete.
• Tasks will include geo-referencing existing drawings, scaling pdf or other plans and figures;
• Development of profile views, layout and customs cross-section for retaining walls;
• Perform calculations, analysis, and computation of stability of retaining walls;
• Import and process field data provided by field staff for structural design or retaining structure;
• Calculate boundary and intersections from field surveys, develop grading plans and structural layouts;
• Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the completion of the project under the direction of a Project Manager;
• Ability to resolve and/or communicate any technical issues that may arise;
• Ability to occasionally assist with field related tasks considered an asset;
• Assist in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices;
• Ability to manage, coordinate and schedule work with colleagues and client;
• Perform other duties as assigned by Project Managers or Supervisor.

Job Requirements:

• Educational background in a relevant discipline (i.e. Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Drafting);
• 2+ year of experience AutoCAD drafting and design;
• Knowledge in AutoCAD Civil 3D software is mandatory;
• Knowledge and experience in ArcGIS;
• Highly motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic team player;
• Capable of working independently;
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
• Technical knowledge in civil engineering or environmental discipline would be an asset;
• Solid understanding of provincial and federal regulatory requirements acquired through experience and education;
• Strong technical understanding of field data collection, instrumentation, monitoring and sampling techniques;
• Strong ability to balance immediate and long-term work with varying priorities and deadlines;
• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with clients and co-workers;
• Exceptional organizational and writing skills;
• Fluently Bilingual with excellent oral and written skills in both English and French;
• Readily accept working in a business-competitive environment.
• Candidate must be authorized to work in Canada.
