DUTIES

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President Academic Quality and Excellence, the Instructional Specialist supports high-quality teaching and

learning at UCN by collaborating with faculty to design and enhance engaging, accessible courses across online, blended, and face-to-face

delivery. The Instructional Specialist focuses on integrating learning technologies, providing LMS (UCNLearn) administration and support,

and offering practical pedagogical guidance within a northern, multi-campus, and community-based environment. The successful incumbent

will provide proactive, collaborative, and responsive support to faculty; building strong working relationships; adapting instructional and

technological support to diverse needs; and advancing reconciliation, continuous improvement, and excellence in teaching and learning.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Masters degree in instructional design, educational or similar area, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be

considered

  • Strong understanding and experience with curriculum development processes (e.g. ADDIE, constructive alignment, program

mapping)

  • Knowledge of in-person and technological facilitated course delivery
  • Proficiency in the use of learning technologies to support effective teaching (e.g. HSP, Camtasia, Storyline).
  • Experience with Al-enabled learning tools
  • Experience in transforming content into well-structured, pedagogically sound learning modules
  • Knowledge of a broad range of educational areas (e.g. assessment, academic integrity, learner engagement)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Commitment to life-long learning

ASSETS

• Knowledge of accessibilities standards

  • Experience with Open Educational Resources
  • Experience designing and supporting courses in a LMS (D2L Brightspace)
  • Experience with or understanding of supporting courses and programs in community
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures
