About Us
Almira Cabinets is a growing cabinetry manufacturing company specializing in custom kitchens, closets, vanities, and full-home millwork solutions. We work on both residential and large multi-unit commercial projects. We are looking for a Cabinetry Estimator to join our team and lead the estimating process for medium to large-scale projects such as multi-family buildings, apartment complexes, commercial spaces, and large custom homes.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Takeoffs
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Perform detailed takeoffs, including:
- Cabinet boxes
- Doors and drawer fronts
- Hardware and accessories
- Finishes and materials
- Countertops (if included)
- Labour, installation, and production time
- Prepare accurate estimates for large-scale and multi-unit projects.
Quotation Planning & Providing
- Develop complete quotation packages, ensuring all items are priced, clear, and properly categorized.
- Create structured quotes that outline:
- Unit pricing
- Cabinet types and quantities
- Material selections
- Hardware systems
- Optional upgrades
- Alternates and exclusions
- Analyze project requirements to determine the most cost-effective construction methods.
- Coordinate with the design team to ensure quotations align with production capabilities.
- Maintain standardized pricing sheets and update cost structures regularly.
- Organize and manage quotation deadlines, ensuring timely submission of bids and tenders.
- Provide revised quotations for addendums, change orders, and updated project scopes.
- Work with management to create pricing strategies for competitive bidding.
Supplier & Cost Management
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain updated pricing for materials, hardware, laminates, finishes, and outsourced components.
- Track material changes, hardware cost fluctuations, and market trends.
- Evaluate alternative materials or hardware options to support value engineering.
Project Coordination
- Work with project managers to hand off successful bids with clear cost breakdowns.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and planning for multi-unit production capacity.
- Support communication between estimating, design, and production teams.
Qualifications
- Experience with cabinetry, millwork, or construction estimating is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, elevations, and specifications.
- Strong math, measurement, and analytical skills.
- High level of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Proficient with computers
- Understanding of cabinetry construction (frameless, face frame, hardware systems) is a strong advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and large volumes of data on multi-unit projects.
- Strong communication and supplier coordination skills.
Assets
- Experience estimating multi-unit projects such as condos, apartments, hotels, or commercial spaces.
- Knowledge of melamine, plywood, MDF, and laminate materials and cost impacts.
- Experience with Excel or estimating software.
- Previous work in cabinetry production or installation.
