Main Purpose of the Job: * *

The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the dealership, supporting the Controller and Accounting team in day-to-day accounting functions. This includes managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, processing payroll data, and ensuring all transactions are recorded in compliance with company policies and Canadian accounting standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Record daily financial transactions in the dealership's accounting system.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and floorplan schedules.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and statements.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle sales, service transactions, and inventory costs.
  • Support payroll processing by compiling hours and verifying deductions.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to ensure compliance with CRA, AIC, lenders and provincial tax regulations.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for audits and internal reviews.
  • Track and report on administrative expenses per vehicle sold.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for financial documents.
  • Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or certificate in accounting, bookkeeping, or related field.
  • Proven bookkeeping experience, preferably in an automotive or retail environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with DMS platforms, CRM and dealership operations is an asset.
  • Understanding CRA compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment.
