Kitchen and Program Facilitator

Reports to: Program and Outreach Manager
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time, 35 hours
Responsibilities:
Food Services
· Plans and prepares nutritious meals and snacks daily at the centre and offsite as required;
· Prepares weekly menu plan, in keeping with nutrition guidelines for pregnant, new parents and nursing women and following Canada's Food Guide and individual dietary requirements/needs and allergies;
· Shops for grocery and kitchen needs within the allocated budget;
· Serves breakfast options, lunch and nutritional snacks at the Centre;
· Is responsible for clean-up of the kitchen and dining area each day and regular deep cleaning as required
· Plans and prepares food for professional meetings on site; and
· Coordinates and prepares food for special events/celebrations on site.
Program Development and Delivery
· Creates, implements and maximizes opportunities for clients to learn basic nutrition, food safety and kitchen skill;
· Ensures that meals and snacks meet program requirements; and
· Assists with/ Co-facilitates nutritional programs and activities as required.
Kitchen Coordination
· Working within established budget, oversees food purchasing and kitchen inventory;
· Ensures safe food handling and storage, following health and safety guidelines;
· Ensures kitchen safety at all times;
· Ensures that the kitchen meets all health and safety regulations; and
· Recommends and participates in development of policies for kitchen use.
· Engage, supervise, and mentor kitchen volunteers to ensure a welcoming, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.
Member of Centre Staff Team
· Participates actively in Staff Meetings;
· Supports an integrative approach within the agency;
· Promotes positive staff morale and agency well-being;
· Projects a positive image of St. Mary's Home in the community;
· Engages in regular supervision and support; and
· Participates in opportunities for staff development / relevant workshops.
Other duties as assigned.
Evening and weekend work as required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38,000.00-$42,000.00 per year
