Position: Family Kitchen Facilitator, Supply
Reports to: CAPC/CPNP Project Manager
Job Summary
The Family Kitchen Facilitator, supply is responsible for the delivery of high quality CAPC programs to children (age and their caregivers in Brampton and Mississauga.
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Delivery
- Develop and facilitate CAPC programs for children and their caregivers
- Work as part of a team with other staff members and volunteers
- Work with CAPC/CPNP Project Manager to develop programs that meet the ongoing needs of clients and Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) criteria
- Evaluate program success, report and periodically review results with the CAPC/CPNP Project Manager
- Greet and provide information to clients in a friendly and compassionate manner
- Use appropriate tracking system to record client attendance and resource distribution
- Provide emotional support, information and role modelling for parents and caregivers raising young children
- Provide families with agency referral and contact as needed
- Ensure cultural sensitivity and client confidentiality are preserved at all times
- Provide respite care to parents and caregivers during parent education sessions
- Ensure adequate supplies are available and prepared for all programs
- Responsible for complete set-up and take-down as well as all aspects of programming
- Provide phone support and referral during business hours
- Ensure facilities and resources are safe, clean and well maintained
- Ensure onsite community resources are accurate and up-to-date (i.e. pamphlets)
- Plan weekly menus according to Canada's Food Guide
- Shop for weekly ingredients within budget
- Provide clients with printed recipes and other healthy eating tips
- Facilitate the cooking for meals each week
- Supervise lunch with an emphasis on the importance of families eating together and children trying new foods
- Provide leftover food to families to take home
- Plan occasional workshops and field trips related to healthy eating
Program Support
- Provide support and direction to students and volunteers
- Ensure expenditures are within the provided budget
Networking
- Participate on committees, in meetings and attend training both on-site and off-site as directed by the CAPC/CPNP Project Manager or Senior Manager, HR & Operations
- At all times, ensure promotion of Early Years programming and BridgeWay Family Centre
Other Activities
- Act as a fund development advocate by following expectations of the agency's Fund Development plan
- Respond to any additional government requirements as directed by the CAPC/CPNP Project Manager
- Work with CAPC/CPNP Project Manager to develop programs that meet the ongoing needs of clients, requirements of the funder and address gaps in service in consultation with the Senior Manager, HR & Operations.
- Work with CAPC/CPNP Project Manager to establish new partnerships with a wide range of community services and incorporate into the programs
- Attend outreach events as determined by the CAPC/CPNP Manager
- Ensure monthly statistics are gathered and submitted to the CAPC/CPNP Project Manager
- Ensure all supplies are ordered to provide efficient operation of the centre
- Perform administrative duties as required
Qualifications
Degree or Diploma culinary, dietician or a relevant field an asset
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a related field
Vulnerable Sector Check
Food Handler's Certificate
Emergency First Aid/CPR B or C
Knowledge of nutrition/healthy eating
Cooking skills
Possess knowledge of child and family development
Self-motivated, takes initiative and works well within a team environment
Ability to work some flexible hours
Strong communications skills
Excellent organizational skills
Additional languages an asset
Job Type
Supply *This is a supply-only position, on an as-needed basis, and does not include regular or guaranteed shifts.
Starting Salary:
$23.35 *Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience and internal equity
