We have an immediate opening for a full-time in the office Accounting Clerk. The successful candidate reports directly to the Financial Controller. Applicants must have a minimum two (2) to five (5) years' experience working in a law firm. Experience working with the GhostPractice is beneficial for this position.

Scope of Responsibilities:

General

· Build relationships with client facing team and develop insight and knowledge of lawyer's practices and billing cycles.

· Store and maintain financial records for internal audit

· Become the subject matter expert for GhostPractice and assist all stakeholders

· Cross-training with other accounting clerks and provide backup when required

· Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its business partners

AP to WIP

· Coordinate all stages of the AP process including entering firm AP invoice and/or trust disbursement to files

· Review WIP, AR, Trust balances before issue refund to clients

· Ensure all applicable administration fees and LSO transaction levies are appropriately charged to the client file

· Responsible for processing payment requisitions and ensuring the print queue is clean as well as follow up with management for signatures

· Remit payments to vendors and provide remittance advices

· Review Statement of Account from vendors and address vendor enquiries

WIP to AR

· Coordinate all stages of the billing process including following up with client facing team to submit docket as well as address bill processing requests

· Follow up with client facing team if WIP is not submitted to accounting on timely fashion for monthly billing

· Assist legal assistants with billing enquiries

AR to Cash

· Responsible for Consultation Fee process and complete the File Opening cycle

· Coordinate all stages of the AR process including process payments from clients via various payment methods to clearing outstanding receivables

· Perform daily bank runs for general and trust account if required

· Process credit card payments on Moneris portal

Required skills:

· Proven / previous accounting experience in a law firm

· Experience with GhostPractice is an asset

· Full competency in Microsoft Office

· Self-driven, self-motivated and attention to detail

· Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

· Highly organized

· Highly organized

· College diploma in accounting or related field

· Strong communication and relationship management skills
