Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing front desk operations, scheduling appointments, and ensuring smooth communication between patients and medical staff. This role requires strong organizational skills, familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. The Medical Receptionist will play a vital role in supporting efficient clinic operations and delivering exceptional patient service.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a positive patient experience
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments using EMR systems such as Telus PSS.
- Collect payments and process medical billing and collections accurately
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation review
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to address patient inquiries
- Assist with intake procedures, including gathering medical history and updating patient information
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and health information management
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and coordinate patient services
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role; clinic office experience is preferred
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Telus PSS or similar platforms
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and health information management software
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and communication abilities
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification or training in medical administration is advantageous
