Founded in 2013, Digital Moment (formerly Kids Code Jeunesse) is a Montreal-based charity part of a global network of organizations working to mobilize communities to build a better future through digital literacy education. For over a decade, Digital Moment has been advancing digital literacy by focusing on creating impactful programs and experiences for youth and their communities on digital skills such as coding, algorithm and data literacy, and artificial intelligence. Digital Moment has reached over a million youth and 30,000 educators with our initiatives and are thriving towards an even bigger impact in the years to come.
We are continuously innovating and creating new initiatives to serve our mission and engaging youth in ways that empower them to become engaged citizens in a digital era. We take our commitments seriously and want to ensure we deliver on our commitments to all stakeholders, including funders, partners, and most importantly, youth and educators.
We are currently looking for a Board Member to support the leadership team in executing on our current strategy, creating innovative strategies and delivering on our impact goals and theory of change. We are also looking for someone who can provide insight, advice, governance and support to the organization in its growing success, with a specific perspective on our financials. This Board member will be part of the Audit Committee and need to have the skills to review our financial statements.
With the growing interest and emergence for Artificial Intelligence, Cybersafety, Ethical use of Technology, Digital Moment is in a pivotal stage of its growth. Requirements of the Board Membership include:
Commitment of time, presence at meetings and taking action to support the work of Digital Moment (~ 2-5 hours monthly);Passion for the work Digital Moment does;Willingness to listen to others' views, advocate their own, identify common interests and alternatives, and to take action when needed;Review and monitor the integrity of financial statements, ensure compliance with accounting standards and oversee financial reporting processes and disclosures.Appoint, meet with and oversee external auditors, including review & approval of the audited financial statements and review audit findingsAssess the organization's risk profile and mitigation strategiesCommitment of time for preparation and participation in Board meetings, as well representing Digital Moment at special events and in the community (mostly in Montreal);Support of Digital Moment in participation and promotion of fundraising events, make introductions to Digital Moment's CEO in hopes it leads to an important partnership or funding opportunity;Adhere to the full participation and understanding of the organization's commitments to diversity, equity and inclusion;Experience with Board governance.The ideal candidate has been on a Board of Directors before and have been involved in the Board Governance process. They have experience and an extensive network in the tech space. They have experience and an extensive network in the education space. They have a strong understanding of government and ministers relations and could connect us with potential opportunities. They have strong financial literacy and understanding of financial statements. They have experience in auditing, accounting, or financial management. They are familiar with internal controls, risk assessment, and compliance. Ideally, they have an accounting designation.

Digital Moment a touché plus d'un million de jeunes et éducateurs(trices) grâce à ses initiatives et s'efforce d'avoir un impact encore plus grand dans les années à venir.
Nous innovons et créons continuellement de nouvelles initiatives pour remplir notre mission et engager les jeunes de manière à les inciter à devenir des citoyens engagés à l'ère du numérique. Nous prenons nos engagements au sérieux et voulons nous assurer de les respecter envers toutes les parties prenantes, y compris les bailleurs de fonds, les partenaires, et surtout, les jeunes et les éducateurs(trices).
Nous recherchons actuellement un administrateur ou une administratrice pour soutenir l'équipe de direction dans l'exécution de notre stratégie actuelle, la création de stratégies novatrices et la réalisation de nos objectifs d'impact et de notre théorie du changement. Nous recherchons également une personne capable de fournir des perspectives, des conseils, une gouvernance et un soutien à l'organisation dans son succès croissant, avec une perspective de finance/comptabilité. Ce membre du conseil d'administration fera partie du Comité d'audit et devra avoir les compétences nécessaires pour examiner nos états financiers.

Les exigences pour être membre du conseil d'administration comprennent :
Engagement de temps : Être présent aux réunions et prendre des mesures pour soutenir le travail de Digital Moment (environ 2 à 5 heures par mois).Passion : Avoir une passion pour le travail que Digital Moment accomplit.Collaboration : Être prêt à écouter les points de vue des autres, à défendre le sien, à identifier les intérêts communs et les alternatives, et à agir au besoin.Surveillance financière : Examiner et surveiller l'intégrité des états financiers, assurer la conformité aux normes comptables et superviser les processus et les informations de rapports financiers.Audit : Nommer, rencontrer et superviser les auditeurs externes, y compris l'examen et l'approbation des états financiers audités et l'examen des constatations d'audit.Gestion des risques : Évaluer le profil de risque de l'organisation et ses stratégies d'atténuation.Participation : Assurer la présence aux réunions du conseil d'administration et représenter Digital Moment lors d'événements spéciaux et dans la communauté (principalement à Montréal).Soutien à la collecte de fonds : Soutenir Digital Moment en participant à la promotion des événements de collecte de fonds, en partageant son réseau et faire des introductions au PDG de Digital Moment dans l'espoir que cela mène à un partenariat important ou à une occasion de financement.Inclusion : Adhérer pleinement et comprendre les engagements de l'organisation envers la diversité, l'équité et l'inclusion.Gouvernance : Avoir de l'expérience en gouvernance de conseil d'administration.Le candidat(e) idéal
Le candidat(e) idéal a déjà siégé à un conseil d'administration et a participé au processus de gouvernance de ce dernier. Il possède de l'expérience et un vaste réseau dans le domaine de la technologie et de l'éducation. Il a une solide compréhension des relations avec le gouvernement et les ministres et pourrait nous ouvrir des portes. Il/elle a une forte littératie financière et une bonne compréhension des états financiers. Il/elle a de l'expérience en audit, en comptabilité ou en gestion financière. Il/elle connaît bien les contrôles internes, l'évaluation des risques et la conformité. Idéalement, il/elle possède un titre comptable.
