About Central Alberta Crime Stoppers

Central Alberta Crime Stoppers is a non-profit Organization dedicated to promoting community safety by facilitating anonymous reporting of crime and providing valuable information to law enforcement agencies. Since its inception Central Alberta Crime Stoppers has played a crucial role in crime prevention and solving cases across central Alberta.

Position Overview

We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our governance board as a board of directors. The board of directors plays a pivotal role in providing strategic direction oversight and governance to Central Alberta Crime Stoppers. As a member of the board you will contribute your expertise experience and leadership to support the organization's mission and objectives. The position is volunteer with no honorarium paid.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to Central Alberta Crime Stoppers.
  • Oversee the organization's financial management ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Participate actively in board meetings committee meetings and strategic planning sessions.
  • Act as ambassadors for the organization promoting its mission and values within the community
  • Actively participate in fundraising initiatives to ensure long-term financial stability of the organization.
  • Monitor organizational performance and impact ensuring alignment with goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with fellow board members staff volunteers and stakeholders to advance the organization's mission.
  • Uphold ethical standards and ensure compliance with relevant laws regulations and policies.

Qualifications:

  • Experience serving on a governance board or similar leadership role.
  • Strong commitment to community safety and crime prevention.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance practices and principles.
  • Familiarity with the Alberta legal and regulatory environment is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Successful applicants will be required to obtain a police check, which will be reimbursed by the organization.

Time Commitment:

  • Board meetings typically occur monthly, with additional committee meetings and activities as required.
  • Estimated time commitment: 5-10 hours per month, including meeting attendance and preparation.
