Accounting Assistant

Position Summary
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Assistant will be responsible for supporting the organization's daily accounting functions including handling communications with vendors, internal departments, database, record maintenance, issuing payment to vendors and making deposits. The Accounting Assistant will have an eye for detail and a high level of accuracy.
Job Duties:
- Assisting the Accounting Manager with maintaining proper financial records
- Record day-to-day financial transactions using accounting software QuickBooks
- Reconciling Vendor accounts
- Assist with preparing payroll-related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as bonuses and vacation pay on an as needed basis
- Assist with the preparation of gaming reports for AGLC.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in a same or similar role.
- Proficiency using Excel and other MS Office products, as well as databases and accounting software; experience using Quickbooks, Hubdoc and Plooto as an asset.
- High level of computer competency with ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Data entry and word processing skills.
- Self-directed in their work, with a capacity to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- High level of personal integrity and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of compliance requirements relevant to charitable sector (including, but not limited to CRA, AGLC, Service Alberta (Alberta's Charitable Fund-raising Act & Regulation), Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)).
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
