About the Role

Nita Lake Lodge is seeking a passionate and experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our Culinary Leadership Team. This is a hands-on leadership role supporting the Executive Chef in shaping and executing the culinary vision across our three food & beverage outlets and catering/conference operations.

The Executive Sous Chef plays a key role in day-to-day kitchen leadership, team development, food quality, and financial performance. This position is ideal for a strong culinary leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is ready to grow into senior culinary leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full kitchen operation in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Supervise, cook, expedite, and plate during service to ensure consistency and quality
  • Conduct line checks and oversee prep and par levels
  • Lead, mentor, and support Sous Chefs, cooks, and dishwashers
  • Promote clear, respectful communication within the kitchen and with front-of-house teams
  • Maintain the highest standards of food presentation, cleanliness, and hygiene
  • Order and manage food inventory while controlling food costs
  • Review labour and food cost metrics daily and identify efficiencies
  • Support menu development, tastings, events, and catering operations
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards are followed and actively participate in safety initiatives
  • Complete and submit required administrative documentation (timesheets, payroll forms, performance reviews, etc.)
  • Document daily operations and updates using 7shifts
  • Coordinate maintenance needs with Engineering and leadership teams
  • Foster a positive kitchen culture and maintain strong team morale
  • Attend required meetings, tastings, and training sessions
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

  • Culinary education with Red Seal Certification or equivalent experience
  • FoodSafe Certification (required)
  • Minimum 3 years of kitchen experience, preferably in a leadership role
  • Strong culinary skills with a passion for quality food
  • Proven leadership, communication, and mentoring abilities
  • Solid understanding of food and labour cost controls
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
