Position: Seasonal Grounds Maintenance Operator - Cemeteries

Status: Full-Time Contract

Closing Date: February 20, 2026

Pay Range: $19.16 to $20.18 hourly

Training and Development: Paid training opportunities.

Work hours: This position offers a flexible schedule up to 35 hours per week with day, evening and weekend shifts as required, approximately April to end of October.

Location: Cemeteries throughout the Township.

General Purpose:

To ensure the general upkeep, maintenance and beautification of the Township of Wilmot's cemeteries.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the general upkeep, maintenance and beautification of all cemeteries/parks, trails and green spaces.
• Performs basic grounds and housekeeping duties, including garbage collection, litter picking.
• Provides leadership and guidance to summer students.
• Assists with Special event set-up and take down that may occur in Township parks.
• Maintains accurate daily written records for the purpose of tracking, reporting and documenting maintenance duties.
• Completes incident, and/or accident reports regarding incidents or accidents affecting the public.
• Ensures work is preformed efficiently and safely in accordance with the Township maintenance standards, policies and procedures and other legislative requirements.
• Ensures all tools/equipment are operated competently, safely and maintained in good operating condition.
• Represents the Township in a professional, courteous and respectful manner when dealing with the public.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Grade 12 education or acceptable equivalent in education and experience.
• Motivated and hard‐working, capable of performing physical work and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Experience and working knowledge of the operation/maintenance of lawn and yard maintenance equipment and familiarity with flowerbed maintenance.
• Landscaping/horticulture and maintenance experience, including operating power equipment & lawn care machinery or using hand tools.
• Able to work with minimum supervision.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills and strong customer service skills.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR would be an asset.
• Valid G Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• A clean Criminal Record Check is required upon hire.

Working Conditions:

• Physically demanding.
• Position requires inside and outside work, frequently exposed to the weather; temperature and conditions varies.
• Able to support seven-day operations, including weekends and holiday shifts.
• Exposed to long periods of walking and standing.
