Community Dietitian- Agassiz

Salary:
$88,948 - $104,644 - $120,341 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract:
This position is a 2-year term with the FNHA. When the term position ends with the FNHA, it is intended that this position will be offered as a permanent role with the Fraser South First Nations Primary Care Clinic Office

Hours:
37.5 hours per week (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)

About The Role
As Community Dietitian, you will work in close partnership with the Coordinator, Community Food Security to provide a wide variety of community-based dietitian services aimed at promoting optimal nutritional health of First Nations individuals, groups and communities in the Fraser Salish region. Through the engagement of health and other partners in First Nations communities, agencies, Fraser Health Authority and other relevant partners in the Fraser Region, the position facilitates and coordinates direct service to individuals and their families through nutritional assessment, care, support and education; and provides a broad spectrum of services ranging from health promotion, risk identification, risk reduction, disease management and prevention of complications.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have/be:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Foods and Nutrition (or equivalent) and a Dietetic Internship, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Occupational Certification

  • Current registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
  • A valid BC driver's license

Experience & Knowledge

  • 3-5 years recent related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Understanding of First Nations culture and tradition and importance of this to FN identity and individual and community health and wellbeing.
  • Knowledge of theories, principles, concepts and practices in the fields of nutrition, pre- and postnatal health; health promotion and community development.
  • Knowledge of the dietary needs of First Nations children, youth, adults and elders; and the impact of social determinants, socio-economic conditions and other health issues such as mental health on nutritional status.
  • Knowledge and skill in the following areas: trauma informed practice, decolonizing approach to nutrition and dietetic care, behavior change, counselling, nutritional therapy for chronic conditions and current recommendations to promote well-being along the lifecycle.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
