**Thrift Store Retail Worker**

**Part Time**

7 hours per week on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m./relief or casual hours.

**Position Summary**:
The Agassiz Harrison Community Services Thrift Store is a social enterprise of the agency and emphasizes our commitment to assist local community members with a source of reasonably priced items. This important operation also provides funds to the 25 different programs of the agency to provide services to children, youth, families and seniors.

Agassiz-Harrison Community Services (AHCS) requires a Thrift Store Retail Worker for 7 hours per week on Saturdays. The position may also have relief or casual hour opportunities to backfill for holidays or other staff absences. This position is excellent for an individual who only wants part-time hours, is retired or is a student.

**Reports**:
Reports to the Executive Director and works with Thrift Store staff and volunteers.

The Retail Worker is responsible for all aspects of the store:

- Handling sales, point of sale, reconciling daily sales and deposits with the Finance Department of AHCS
- Providing customer service
- Accepting or declining donations
- Orienting, supervising and delegating tasks to volunteers
- Ensuring safety standards
- Assisting with sorting and preparing donations for sale
- Cleaning, pricing and displaying merchandise attractively and safely;
- Arranging (seasonal) merchandise displays; and
- Keeping work areas tidy, safe and attractive.

**Experience**:

- Some retail experience is an asset.

**Skills and abilities**:

- Excellent communication skills with the public and volunteers
- Ability to work well with colleagues and volunteers
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to carry donations up to 50 pounds
- A customer-oriented approach
- Sales skills

**Other requirements**:
Police Information Check with vulnerable populations enhancement
- Valid class 5 BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle

**Hours of Work**:
7 hours per week on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and casual on-call for staff who are on holidays or covering for work absences

**Rate of Pay**:$22.94 per hour.
