Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Hamilton Health Sciences Full time

The secretary will provide clerical support to the Department Manager. The position may be required to support the Site Chief, Department Radiologists, Office Coordinator, Charge Technologist and other staff members within Diagnostic Services. The Secretary is also responsible for scheduling all administrative meetings and appointments and will be responsible for taking meeting minutes. (Travel may be required between sites). The Secretary may also be required to generate purchase requisitions, place supply orders, prepare job postings and additional HR supports as need and preparation of research and publications. Additional responsibilities may include, photocopying, faxing, collection and distribution of mail.

1. Graduate of Community College Business Secretarial Program or equivalent.
2. Minimum two years related office experience.
3. Demonstrated expertise in minute-taking and transcription abilities.
4. Proficient keyboarding skills (60 wpm).
5. Demonstrated proficient computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and database systems (MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint, Word Perfect, Windows 2000, Management Resource Tool, Adobe Creator).
6. Demonstrated effective problem-solving abilities
7. Demonstrated ability to appreciate confidential nature of the position.
8. Demonstrated interest in new learning.
9. Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative, organize and establish priorities and meet deadlines.
10. Knowledge and experience with Human Resources processed preferred.

Diagnostic Services supports a high volume of diverse adult and pediatric patients and families, providing service within Radiology, CT Scan, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound and Interventional. Most areas within this Unit function 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
