Our House and Community Development Department is looking for a dedicated Children and Youth Coordinator to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
- The Community Development Coordinator – Children and Youth creates meaningful opportunities for young people in Grande Prairie to get involved, develop leadership skills, and feel connected to their community.
- Supports and leads youth-focused programs such as the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and Communities Building Youth Futures (CBYF). These initiatives promote youth participation in local decision-making and provide learning, volunteering, and community engagement opportunities.
- Involves close collaboration with City departments, schools, youth-serving agencies, and other community partners. Using a Collective Impact approach, the Coordinator contributes to multi-sector efforts that address complex social issues and improve outcomes for children and youth in Grande Prairie. Participation in outreach events, working groups, and collaborative meetings is an important part of this work.
- Planning and delivering events like Youth Week and the Youth Career Discovery Expo.
- Supporting grant writing and reporting, collecting feedback from youth participants.
- Tracking program data to demonstrate impact.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, community development, education, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years experience working with children an/d, community programming, Family and Community Support Services, or related work.
- Experience working with children and youth serving organizations, particularly experience working with older youth (ages 15–24) from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build respectful relationships with youth, community partners, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated experience with administrative tasks, including maintaining records, coordinating logistics, and managing budgets.
- Proven ability in grant writing, outcome-based report writing, and preparing documents for various audiences including funders and leadership.
- Skilled in presenting in formal settings, such as Council updates, funder briefings, or public events.
- Experience facilitating meetings and working groups with youth, staff, and community stakeholders.
- Comfort using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office) and digital tools for communication, scheduling, and reporting.
Hours
The standard workweek consists of an average of 35 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
Compensation
Salary range $ $46.69 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
