The System Administrator will be responsible for a wide variety of activities relating to the management of IT systems and products/applications which help deliver Eastlink's solutions.

Key responsibilities:
- Analyze, evaluate, co-ordinate, implement, manage and support the day-to-day maintenance of a diverse and highly available Linux environments providing Eastlink internal and external services
- Deploying new Linux infrastructure to support business initiatives
- Work with network and hardware teams to troubleshoot, provide recommendations, and proactively monitor systems
- Strong security focus applying best practices, patching, and monitoring security vulnerabilities
- Ensure system reliability with a strong focus on security by applying best practices in regard to patching, backups, security, anti-virus, and monitoring security vulnerabilities
- System hardening and vulnerability testing
- Collaborate with team members in benchmarking, research, planning, design, and implementation of new technologies and improvement of existing infrastructure
- Responsible for documenting procedures, problems and their resolutions
- Conduct research into systems related issues and products
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education focused on Computer Science, Data Communications/Networking, Information Technology or a related field
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu)
- Experience working with the following technologies is preferred:
- System Monitoring (Patching and Vulnerabilities)
- System Programming, Scripting, and Automation
- Common Open-Source tools and applications
- VMware vSphere and SAN technology
- Managing system backups and restores
- Cloud experience is considered an asset
- Experience working in a secure environment considered and asset
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible and AWX, Landscape or RHEL Satellite are considered an asset
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Docker and Kubernetes are considered an asset
- Experience with vulnerability and troubleshooting tools such as Rapid7, nmap, tcpdump, and wireshark are considered and asset
- Strong knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, IP addressing, core network services DNS/DHCP and network troubleshooting
- Familiar with scripting in shell, Perl, or Python
- Windows experience considered an asset
- Understanding of Agile methodology would be an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
