UrologyOverview of Position:
Serves as the point of contact for the surgery department for the purpose of scheduling procedures. Responsible for coordinating schedules of physicians, operating rooms and other necessary staff. Reports any problems to the appropriate manager or clinical coordinator.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Accurately schedules patients for surgery.
2. Schedules operating rooms, surgeons and special equipment staff for procedures.
3. Distributes pre and post-operative information to patient.
4. Sends and receives fax and email documents, maintain necessary documentation and logs.
5. Consistently reviews work processes to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift.
6. Performs other functions as assigned.
7. Communicates routinely with anesthesia providers and surgery management to ensure effective use of surgery schedule time.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Basic understanding of medical procedures and processes, knowledge of medical terminology.
3. Ability to retain information, multi-task, and work with minimal supervision.
4. Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment.
5. Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
6. Excellent computer skills with experience using MS Office, data entry skills.
7. Ability to provide outstanding customer service and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

3. Promotes Patient and Employee Safety
• Demonstrates safe Patient Handling (i.e. transfers, transport, care administration, nutrition, medication, etc.)
• Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.)
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipment
• Demonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness.
• Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean and quiet environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Works in an office environment, but may be required to drive to other locations.
2. Answers telephone calls, uses personal computer and other business machines extensively, which requires the ability to apply finger dexterity. Individual bends, reaches, pushes and pulls file drawers to file records and reports.
3. Regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
4. Vision abilities required include up close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
