Job Overview
Hero Service is currently seeking a Snow Removal Technician to join our team for the upcoming winter season. In this role, you'll be the first point of contact for customers, ensuring safe and professional snow and ice management on commercial and residential properties. Your primary duties will include snow shovelling, operating snow removal equipment, spreading ice-melt, and keeping walkways, driveways, and parking lots hazard-free.
Reliability, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety are essential. As the seasons change, this role offers growth potential into landscaping and grounds maintenance, with the opportunity for long-term, year-round employment.
Please note: this job requires you to work within Calgary and Cochrane.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely clear snow and ice from sidewalks, driveways, stairs, and parking areas.
- Apply salt, sand, or other ice-melt products to maintain safe walking and driving surfaces.
- Operate snow blowers, snow throwers, and other equipment as required.
- Use shovels and hand tools in areas where equipment cannot reach.
- Perform winter safety checks on properties during and after snow events.
- Drive trucks (trailer experience an asset) for snow and landscaping operations.
- Lead or support a small crew, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Provide excellent customer service as the first point of contact with clients.
- Transition into landscaping duties in warmer months.
- Maintain and perform routine service on snow and landscaping equipment.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of snow removal or landscaping experience.
- Ability to lift 40lbs+ and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Punctual and able to reliably get to and from work (especially during storms or early-morning shifts).
- Flexible and able to work long hours or overtime when required by snow events.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
- Leadership ability to run a small crew when needed.
- Basic landscaping or horticulture knowledge is an asset.

Job Details

- Hours: 30–60 per week (weather dependent)
- Schedule:
- 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime as required
- On-call availability during snow season
