You are a rising accounting professional with a keen eye for detail and analytics, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and a desire to learn and grow. You will report to the CFO and manage the day-to-day responsibilities of our accounting function.

As a Financial Accountant you are an integral part of the full accounting cycle while supporting billing and payroll functions and budgeting. You will be a subject matter expert in full-cycle accounting and financial reporting, and will support critical projects that will have a long-term impact on the company's success. You will have opportunities to expand your SaaS finance knowledge by working with the CFO on monthly P&L and KPI variance analysis and annual budgeting. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment, has strong business acumen and is eager to build compliant, scalable accounting processes while developing their financial, planning and analysis skills.

What You'll Do

Accounting
  • Manage full cycle accounting process, including month-end close, general ledger reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Lead the Account Receivable invoice and collection initiative
  • Manage the Accounts Payable cycle and payments through Quickbooks, Float and Stripe
  • Process payroll with 3rd party payroll provider
  • Track and calculate revenue share with major partners 
  • Maintain amortization and deferred revenue schedules
  • Manage monthly review and journal entries the company's CAD and USD credit card transactions
Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Budgeting, Planning and Forecasting Work with the CFO and management to develop the annual operating budget
  • Develop multi-year financial projection model to project the company's P&L and runway
  • Rolling Forecasts: Update and maintain rolling monthly financial projections
Management Reporting & Variance Analysis
  • Produce monthly/quarterly reports that track actual financial results against the budget.
  • Performing variance analysis to explain the "why" behind deviations
Strategic Business Partner
  • Be a strategic partner to department heads (Sales, Marketing, Product) by providing data-driven financial-based insights to help them manage their own budgets and make investment decisions.
  • Drive the preparation and development of materials for quarterly Board of Directors meetings in close partnership with the CFO.
  • Lead the financial analysis and due diligence for corporate development activities related to equity, debt, and non-dilutive capital raising efforts.
  • Develop and maintain robust reporting by collaborating with the Revenue and Data Operations team to ensure accurate tracking of key revenue metrics and overall business performance.
  • Execute high-priority, cross-functional strategic projects and initiatives as required by executive management.
Who You Are
  • We're looking for a motivated self-starter who cares about the work it takes to help build a great company.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation (or progress toward it)
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, including full-cycle accounting and reporting and third-party payroll providers
  • Strong understanding of ASPE and GAAP, revenue recognition, and deferred revenue
  • Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
  • Excellent time-management, organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and adaptable, thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Upstanding, ethical, and confidential with sensitive information
  • Solid working knowledge of QuickBooks, Google Sheets, and Excel is essential. Familiarity with Float, Hubspot and Stripe is a strong plus. Experience in SaaS or tech industry is HIGHLY desired.
