Job Opportunity: Financial Reporting Manager (CPA) with Internal Audit/SOX Experience

6–12 Month Contract-to-Perm | Downtown Toronto | 5 Days Onsite

Our client, a reputable publicly listed organization, is seeking a
CPA-designated Financial Reporting Manager
who brings a strong foundation in
Financial Reporting
along with
some Internal Audit/SOX experience
.

This role begins with a short-term focus on Internal Audit/Controls and transitions into a core Financial Reporting position. Ideal for someone who enjoys both technical accounting and controls, and is looking for a long-term growth opportunity.

Position Overview

You will support the Internal Audit and Controls team during the initial phase and progressively move into the Financial Reporting (Record-to-Report) function. This engagement is structured as a
contract-to-permanent
role based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Audit / SOX (Initial Phase – First 6 Months)

  • Perform internal controls testing, walkthroughs, and documentation.
  • Support SOX compliance, process remediation, and internal control improvements.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requirements, including year-end.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and identify control gaps.
  • Prepare clear audit findings and communicate with key stakeholders.

Financial Reporting (Later Phase)

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and deliverables prepared by offshore teams.
  • Collaborate with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Assist with project initiatives (system enhancements, SAP Hana testing, tax support).
  • Maintain compliance with IFRS and corporate accounting policies.

Required Qualifications

  • CPA designation (mandatory)
  • Big 4 public accounting experience with publicly listed companies
  • 2–3 years of relevant industry experience (financial reporting, internal audit, or controls)
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls, SOX, and IFRS
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficiency in Excel; SAP/BlackLine/AuditBoard experience is an asset
