JOB STATEMENT
As a member of the Client Services team, the Community Outreach Ambassador will build and sustain relationships across Alberta's B2B entrepreneurial ecosystem to connect entrepreneurs and partners with Business Link's programs and services. Working primarily within your base and travelling across the province as needed, you will meet with entrepreneurial ecosystem partners and stakeholders, attend relevant events, and engage entrepreneurs through both in-person and virtual outreach, while gathering local intelligence and ensuring accurate reporting.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role focused on visibility, connection, and strengthening Business Link's reach. This short-term contract position reports directly to the Director, Client Services & Operations and supports a growing outreach model that will inform future recruitment and ecosystem engagement strategies.
LOCATION
Lethbridge / Red Deer / Calgary / Edmonton
ROLE COMPONENTS
- Represent Business Link across Alberta's B2B entrepreneurial ecosystem, including registry offices, municipal counters, innovation hubs, industry associations, economic development groups, post-secondary partners, and other ecosystem stakeholders within your assigned region.
- Clearly and concisely explain Business Link's programs and services to frontline staff and local entrepreneurs.
- Distribute marketing materials (digital and physical) and track outreach activities using simple digital tools/CRM.
- Identify potential client referrals and share local insights to support future outreach strategies.
- Maintain accurate outreach logs, meeting notes, and submit clear weekly activity and intelligence summaries.
- Participate in onboarding, regular check-ins, and debrief sessions with the central team.
- Travel extensively within Alberta as needed, including site visits and occasional overnight stays (mileage allowance and eligible travel expenses provided).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – you're approachable, proactive, and comfortable engaging in new environments (in person or virtual)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently plan and manage a busy weekly schedule with meetings, events, and time on the road.
- Comfortable with regional travel, including long drives and occasional overnight stays.
- A genuine passion for small business development and community engagement.
- Proficient with basic digital tools, including email, virtual meeting platforms, web forms, CRM systems, and spreadsheets.
- Familiarity with Alberta's communities and geography.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable personal vehicle
- Experience in outreach, canvassing, partnership development, public engagement, or event/promotional work is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of small business support programs and services in Alberta is an asset.
COMPENSATION & CONTRACT TERM
Salary is competitive with similar positions in not-for-profit and government-funded organizations.
* This is a contract position running from January 5, 2026, until March 27, 2026.
