About the job

In this position, you will:

  • guide, plan, and coordinate complex land use planning projects and consultations
  • develop policy/research papers, legislative options, cabinet submissions, presentations, and briefing materials on various land use planning topics
  • provide technical expertise and guidance to staff
  • research emerging issues, making recommendations and advising senior ministry staff and other ministries
  • engage with internal and external partners and facilitate consultations on land use planning topics
What you bring to the team
Policy and technical expertise:

You have:

  • knowledge of and demonstrated experience with land use planning systems and processes and related fields (e.g. environmental planning)
  • knowledge of and demonstrated experience with policy and program development and policy decision making processes
  • the demonstrated ability to interpret, apply and develop possible revisions to related planning legislation, regulations, policies and programs (e.g. Provincial Policy Statement, the Planning Act, Greenbelt Plan)
Project management, leadership and research and evaluation skills:

You can:

  • guide teams and manage projects from start to finish
  • research and evaluate data and information to find solutions and make recommendations
  • respond to requests, meet deadlines, and follow government policies
  • manage time to handle many tasks
Consultation, negotiation and relationship management skills:

You can:

  • work with people and build effective relationships
  • facilitate groups and communicate information
  • negotiate, mediate, and resolve conflicts
  • help teams find solutions and reach conclusions
Communication and presentation skills

You have:

  • exceptional written and verbal skills to create presentations, research papers, and briefing materials, and to explain complex information
  • proven skills in working with others and leading groups to share and discuss information
  • the ability to present research findings to senior staff on policy and program projects
