GFT is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer – Rail Specialty to join our Practice This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at either our Toronto or Vancouver offices.

In this role, you will work closely with our public transit team at GFT. Working with the public transit team means shaping the future of transportation, delivering projects that improve mobility, safety, and accessibility for millions of passengers nationwide. What you'll be challenged to do:

As an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer - Rail Specialty, you will provide mentorship, project management, strong client facing skills and the ability to communicate and work across multiple operational groups and technical disciplines. Our goal is to continue to expand our bridge group and this role is pivotal to achieving this objective. Successful candidates will deliver best in class technical solutions to our clients on the design, delivery and management of projects across both public and private sectors. 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Executing the design work on a variety of  bridge projects involving a range of technical complexity. 
  • Securing, planning, directing and monitoring all aspects of small to large scale multi-discipline bridge projects involving a diverse project staff. Oversight of activities related to Bridge Design, Bridge Rehabilitation and Bridge Inspection.
  • Reinforcing and continuing to establish strategic market position/service offerings for the group to align with client needs and Gannett Fleming TranSystems strategic initiatives. 
  • Serving as a Project Manager, Task Manager and/or Bridge Technical Advisor on Project Pursuits.
  • Mentoring junior to intermediate staff.


What you will bring to our firm:
  • P.Eng. required
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 8 - 12 years of bridge related rail bridge design experience.
  • Candidate should be well versed in the use of AREMA Standards.
  • Demonstrated success in managing preliminary and final design, preparation of construction documents, specifications, cost estimates, project scheduling and subcontractor management.
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication both written and verbal skills.
  • Experience in writing/development of project proposals and letters of interest.
  • Solid client relationships and willingness to help lead bid, proposal and presentation efforts.

What we prefer you bring: 

  • Experience with inspection and condition assessment of bridges is preferred.
  • Business development and strategic planning is preferred but not required.

Compensation:


The salary range for this position is $120, $170, Salary dependent upon experience and geographic location.
