Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Accountant at our Mississauga Office. The
Senior Accountant
will be responsible for overseeing the full accounting cycle, performing monthly financial reporting, managing the month-end process and supporting budget preparations. They will ensure accurate and complete maintenance of financial records, assist with the coordination of audits, and collaborate across departments and locations to manage critical financial data.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A CPA designation is preferred but not required.
  • You possess a
    minimum of 5 years of experience
    in accounting or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a general construction, property management, property development or service-oriented company is strongly preferred.
  • 5 years of experience
    as a senior accountant
    or in a similar capacity.
  • You have a
    strong understanding
    of accounting principles, financial statement preparation, and budget/forecasting processes.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Viewpoints, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and general ledger maintenance.
  • Knowledge of
    full-cycle payroll
    (including review, management, compliance, and approval)
  • Experience in reviewing
    full-cycle Accounts Payable
    (AP)
  • Strong flexibility and a "
    go-getter

  • Proven ability to support
    departmental budgeting and forecasting preparations
  • Experience
    coordinating with external accountants
    for annual financial statements
  • Ability to run, review, and present financial statements while managing the month-end process and full-cycle accounting for the entire department

Accounting Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring all transactions are recorded and reconciled timely and accurately.
  • Review and approve payroll for compliance and accuracy
  • Review full-cycle Accounts Payable processes
  • Prepare and review
    monthly financial statements
    , providing a detailed report on performance against budgets.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date
    general ledger records
    , including job costing and managing fixed assets.
  • Ensure timely completion of
    annual audits
    with external accountants, providing necessary documentation and resolving discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with department heads for
    budget preparation
    and regular expense reviews.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with
    internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review payment schedules, vendor agreements
    , and monitor cash flows to align with financial plans.
  • Streamline accounting systems
    and
    implement automation tools
    to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Provide
    business analysis
    reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial health metrics for management.
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure
    financial compliance
    and effective cost management for ongoing projects.
