How your role will add to the story:
The Senior Accountant – Wholesale Vehicles will assist their leaders and peers effectively and efficiently execute on day-to-day, monthly and year end general accounting activities. The incumbent will work closely with other departments such as Sales, Distribution, Parts, Aftersales, etc. to support its business objectives. The incumbent will also assist in ensuring internal controls adequately contribute to financial reporting objectives and meet the annual certification requirements.
You are not just a number cruncher. You operate as a business partner, who can work cross-functionally and interact with senior leadership. Your mindset is professional, driven and determined to improve accuracy, create value and deliver results. As a key member of the corporate and wholesale accounting team, you will be heavily involved in the month-end closing process, quarterly and year-end financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting for certain areas of the business. Your strong IFRS knowledge and automotive business experience will be true assets. Highly articulate and a natural relationship builder, you will excel in this fast-paced environment, demonstrating a work ethic that is second to none.
A day in the life:
- Coordinate and be responsible for month end procedures according to IFRS including journal entry preparation, review, support and submission to offshore transactional accounting processing team for various month end journal entries including, dealer holdbacks, vehicle margin program, service contracts, import duty variance, demo car tax and discount etc.
- Review inventory (vehicles & parts) balances and reconcile inventory aging. Engage different business units toward resolution of aged inventory and explain the variances between the periods.
- Monthly reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts including analysis of accounts development and trending.
- Responsible for assigned BU AR billings, credit notes, and customer master data maintenance comply with accounting and internal policies guidelines.
- Act as liaison between Accounting & Controlling and various business units of MB Canada. Explain the development and gross profit of the business, including vehicle cost accounts analysis, and propose adjustments as required.
- Lead monthly meetings with business units to initiate and address business needs from an accounting perspective.
- Understand developments in assigned business unit (BU) and ensure that BU understands their financial results, the impact of their decisions or options, and that the financials accurately reflect the reality.
- Work closely with IT in identifying systems issues and resolutions on a timely basis.
- Identify process and efficiency improvements (including but not limited to including automation, and process documentation) and lead or assist with implementation.
- Lead, assist and/or participate in special projects utilizing Power BI to automate executive reports and other duties as necessary.
- Monitor or perform internal controls to ensure compliance with MBAG global internal control policy.
- Coordinate and prepare annual corporate internal and external audits working papers as requested. Work with tax service group on annual corporate tax filing. Support other government audits.

Qualifications
Mercedes-Benz Star skills, requirements & traits:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, along with a CPA designation
- At least five years of progressive experience in accounting, including external financial reporting, technical accounting matters, and routine business tax work
- Strong working level knowledge of IFRS or ASPE and hands on experience in general ledger management and full month, quarter, and year end close cycles
- Solid understanding of business processes and internal controls, with a proven ability to identify issues, interpret results, and support process improvements
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, paired with advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Strong work ethics, organizational discipline, and the ability to manage competing priorities independently while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
- Collaborative, adaptable, and effective in communicating with stakeholders across different business units
