Insurance Account Manager

The Insurance Account Manager is responsible for the effective servicing and management of an existing book of business within an insurance brokerage. This licensed position involves maintaining and enhancing client relationships, ensuring policy compliance, and providing high-quality support to meet the needs of clients. The role demands a strong understanding of insurance products and services, as well as the ability to navigate complex client requirements and regulatory environments.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and retention.
- Regular Duties
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, concerns, and policy updates.
- Foster and maintain strong client relationships to ensure high levels of satisfaction and retention.
- Conduct regular client meetings to review policies, discuss changes, and assess needs.
- Manage and oversee the lifecycle of insurance policies, including renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of policy changes, claims, and documentation.
- Input and update client and policy information into insurance management systems and databases.
- Ensure data accuracy and completeness, performing regular checks and corrections as needed.
- Collaborate with underwriters and carriers to resolve any issues related to policy terms or coverage.
- Ensure all client interactions and transactions comply with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend appropriate coverage adjustments to meet client needs.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling or upselling additional insurance products and services.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentations for potential and existing clients.
- Support the development and implementation of strategies to grow the book of business.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive client information.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, policy details, and correspondence.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and issue resolution.
Periodic Duties
- Prepare and review reports on account status, performance metrics, and client feedback.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and insurance products to provide informed advice to clients.
Qualifications
Required
- An active and current insurance broker RIBO license for the relevant provincial regulatory body
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a service-focused insurance brokerage role, preferably in both Personal and Commercial Lines.
- Strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting principles, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in using policy management and CRM systems to manage client interactions and track business development efforts.
- A university degree in a related field, or a college diploma in Insurance from a Canadian post-secondary institution, or equivalent.
Technical Competencies
- Comprehensive understanding of various insurance products and services, including policy structures and coverage options.
- Ability to manage and facilitate the claims process effectively, including liaising with clients and insurance carriers.
- Strong knowledge of industry regulations and the ability to ensure adherence to legal and company standards.
- Proficiency in using insurance management software and CRM systems to manage client information and track interactions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional client service, handle client concerns with empathy, and build long-lasting relationships.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement them effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams, including underwriters, claims adjusters, and other account managers, to achieve common goals.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple accounts, and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions
Works primarily in a standard office setting with a typical climate-controlled environment. The role requires periods of sitting, computer use, and participation in meetings or collaborative sessions. Noise levels are generally low, and the position involves minimal physical exertion.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $42,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
