Who we are looking for:

Wabasca Desmarais Housing Authority/Keekenow Senior Facility is looking for Casual Food Services Cooks who will be accountable for: meal preparation, maintaining clean food services areas and serving meals. This position entails a high level of interaction with seniors and requires physical endurance (ie. standing for long periods of time, maneuvering heavy pots, using sharp knives, lifting flour bags, etc.).

Some Key Duties:

  • Ensures residents are provided safe, palatable, nutritious food that meet their dietary needs and preferences while meeting Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
  • Prepare meals in accordance with approved menu, follow standardized recipes.
  • Adhere to safe food handling and regulated temperature guidelines.
  • Ensure food service work area and equipment cleanliness and ensure it is organized throughout the shift.
  • Daily dishwasher temperatures and chemical usage log is completed as per government guidelines.
  • Maintains a guest focus while performing duties.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Food Safe Certificate.
  • Experience in relevant position.
  • Speaking and understanding Cree would be an asset.
