**Job Posting: Outreach Specialist**
**Location**: Alberta (Edmonton preferred) Hybrid 3 days in office 2 days work from home.
**Position**: Full-time Permanent
The United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Carpenters Regional Council, is seeking an Outreach Specialist for the Department of Programs & Initiatives. This role focuses on attracting, onboarding, and retaining skilled carpenters and trades people to strengthen our union.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Recruitment**:
- Implement effective recruitment strategies for skilled carpenters.
- Coordinate orientation sessions for new members to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
- Promote Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) as part of recruitment.
**Retention**:
- Conduct surveys and feedback sessions to address member concerns.
- Coordinate training and professional development programs.
- Foster an inclusive union culture through events and activities.
- Monitor retention metrics and implement improvements based on insights.
**Communication and Outreach**:
- Serve as the primary contact for potential and current members regarding recruitment and retention.
- Develop promotional materials to highlight union membership benefits.
- Build relationships with trade schools and vocational programs to create a future member pipeline.
- Represent the union at industry events, job fairs, and community functions.
- Provide support to apprentices and new members.
**Administrative Duties**:
- Maintain accurate records of recruitment and retention activities.
- Prepare regular reports on metrics for union leadership.
- Assist in developing policies and procedures related to recruitment and retention.
- Meet monthly with the Recruitment & Retention Coordinator to implement departmental processes.
- Design EDI-focused processes for implementation in other regions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in recruitment or employee engagement.
- Knowledge of the carpentry trade and construction industry is desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed.
Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
