Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Northern Operations Support Specialist is responsible for serving as the Operations central liaison/point of contact and administrative support partner to Operations leadership, working closely with the Ottawa administrative and HR teams to contribute to successful flow of information and overall project support.

Main Accountabilities include:

Provide day to day oversight, mentoring and development of administrative support staff in Ottawa and at the northern site locations; creating and implementing standardized processes and procedures
- Create standardized process flows and procedures for staff rotational travel
- Create and maintain the northern staff rotation schedule, working with the sites and HR to ensure adequate staffing levels at all times
- Lead/schedule the annual summer works hiring process by scheduling and coordinating the term hiring requirements based on the required work as per the Annual Operations Plan, working with HR to ensure prioritizing employment equity initiatives
- Initiate paperwork to HR for northern operations staff changes
- Records management (electronic and hard copy)
- Assist with project initiation and management of project process
- Participate in interviews, orientation and onboarding activities
- Coordinate video calls and conferences, meetings and other events
- Participate in ongoing continuous improvement projects
- Demonstrate a team approach; supports and provides coverage for absences
- Occasional travel to northern sites may be required

Who you are:

Post-secondary education with a minimum of five (5) years' demonstrated experience in facility operations coordination; equivalencies will be considered
- Previous experience with scheduling and creating rotational schedules is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills
- Flexible and adaptable with proven ability to work independently
