_Please note this posting is for an 8-week Placement as a Summer Student through the Canada Summer Jobs Wage Subsidy program. _

**Purpose**

The Intake Worker plays a key role in ensuring the smooth daily operation of Gleaners Foodbank. This position is responsible for administrative support, frontline reception duties, data management, and maintaining efficient foodbank operations. The role also involves collaboration with volunteers, clients, staff, and external agencies, as well as support for broader organizational initiatives.

**Job Duties and Responsibilities**

**Administration**:

- Reception duties including answering the phone, greeting clients and the public, and responding to inquiries
- Maintain volunteer checklists, this includes creating and photocopying templates and making them accessible to staff and volunteers
- Administer Link2Feed Program and associated client forms
- Prepare a monthly client usage and demographic statistics report
- Communicate with other agencies, food banks and food programs as required
- Record maintenance including filing and maintaining vehicle daily inspection sheets and delivery and pick-up slips

**Foodbank support**:

- Complete daily re-stocking from mid
- section of Gleaners to the front counter areas to ensure continuous supply of items for daily operations
- Coordinates stock with Foodbank and Volunteer Coordinator for the Foodbank and café, as needed
- As required and as supplies get low, call or page the warehouse to have items brought from the warehouse to replenish the front storage area for ease of access
- Working with the Foodbank and Volunteer Coordinator schedule and record deliveries and pick-ups of hampers and donations

**Other**:

- Lend support to other areas at Gleaners, as requested. This may include but is not limited to assistance at special events, support for special initiatives etc.
- Assist in training and orienting new staff and volunteers in the foodbank and café, as needed. This often includes one-on-one training and mentoring.
- Adhere to, and follow all applicable policies and procedures

**Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Traits**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in administration, social services, or a related field is an asset.
- Previous experience in a customer service, reception, or administrative support role preferred.
- Familiarity with foodbank operations and/or working with vulnerable populations is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a welcoming, compassionate, and professional demeanor.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn client intake systems (e.g., Link2Feed).
- Ability to lift moderate weight (up to 30 lbs) and perform regular physical tasks related to inventory management.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with mínimal supervision.

**Working Conditions**:

- This position primarily operates in an office and foodbank environment.
- Some lifting, bending, and carrying of supplies is required.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for special events or initiatives.

- *The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period._
