The Team: Ready, Set, Go Preschool Program

The Role: Preschool Assistant (Full-time)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours a week.

What You’ll Bring to The Role:

- Early Childhood Diploma or equivalent years of experience and certifications will be considered
- A minimum of 2 years' experience working with preschool/kindergarten aged children and their families
- Must have a level 2 or 3 Child Care Certification through the Government of Alberta
- Must have current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
- Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (CRIM) and a clear Intervention Record Check (IRC)
- In-depth understanding of Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations
- Able to work in a respectful manner and with a strengths-based approach
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Tasks & Responsibilities:

- Help implement creative, purposeful, and age-appropriate activities for kindergarten aged children with a focus on play-based programming, developmental needs, and social and emotional skills
- Develop plans to meet the specific needs of individual children when necessary
- Identify developmental delays and making recommendations for screening
- Involve parents in various aspects of the program as volunteers, such as early literacy activities
- Suggest developmentally appropriate activities for parents and child to engage in
- Build relationships with local schools and agencies to raise awareness of the program and assist with referrals into the program
- Model constructive behaviour management techniques, positive parents’ strategies, good communication skills, and healthy problem-solving strategies
- Complete administration duties including monthly program updates, collecting monthly preschool fees, record keeping and developmental tools (Age & Stages Questionnaire)
- Work in partnership with other agencies whenever necessary
- Participate staff meetings and support Preschool Teachers with classroom activities
- Provide a safe and supportive environment for children and their families/natural supports to encourage them to express their feelings, needs and desires
