The incumbent will also be responsible for the achievement of defined work plans and objectives aimed at supporting and advancing AFN’s national advocacy positions, interests and strategies in First Nations Mental Health and Wellness related issues and priorities.
**Who Can Apply**: Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (s. 16(1) CHRA).
Applicants must possess:
- An undergraduate degree in psychology or a related field of study with 3-5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in specific policy area;
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with First Nations, and related policies, preferably pertaining to Mental Health and Wellness particularly, Substance Mis/Use, Life Promotion and Suicide Prevention, and the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework;
- Knowledge and understanding of the issues in First Nations communities, including health and wellbeing;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to translate complex ideas and information to any audience;
- Demonstrated ability to research and statistical related terminology;
- Demonstrated experience analyzing large sets of complex and changing data, and communicating it in a clear and concise way, ensuring colleagues across the organization, Committees, First Nations leadership and other key stakeholders understand findings and recognize significance;
- Demonstrated experience working with First Nations, federal, provincial, territorial, northern, urban and international governments and officials;
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, teamwork and judgement;
- Demonstrated time management, planning & organizational skills and attention to detail; and
- English is the working language although the ability to communicate effectively in French or any Indigenous language would also be an asset.

Le(la) titulaire sera également chargé(e) de réaliser des plans de travail et des objectifs définis visant à promouvoir les positions, les intérêts et les stratégies de plaidoyer de l'APN à l'échelle nationale sur les questions et les priorités relatives à la santé mentale et au bien-être des Premières Nations.
**Admissibilité**: La préférence sera accordée aux personnes d'ascendance autochtone, conformément à l'article 16 (1) de la _Loi canadienne sur les droits de la personne_.
- Diplôme de premier cycle en psychologie ou dans un domaine d'études connexe et 3 à 5 ans d'expérience pertinente, ou une combinaison équivalente de formation et d'expérience dans un domaine politique précis;
- Un minimum de 3 à 5 ans d'expérience de travail avec les Premières Nations et les politiques connexes, de préférence en ce qui concerne la santé mentale et le bien-être, et en particulier, la toxicomanie, la promotion de la vie et la prévention du suicide, ainsi que le cadre du Continuum du bien-être mental des Premières Nations;
- Connaissance et compréhension des enjeux auxquels se heurtent les communautés des Premières Nations, notamment en matière de santé et de bien-être;
- Excellentes aptitudes à la communication orale et écrite et capacité à traduire des idées et des informations complexes pour n'importe quel public;
- Capacité démontrée à effectuer des recherches et à utiliser la terminologie statistique;
- Expérience avérée de l'analyse de vastes ensembles de données complexes et changeantes, et de la communication de ces données de manière claire et concise, en veillant à ce que les employés de l'ensemble de l'organisation, les membres des comités, les dirigeants des Premières Nations et d'autres parties prenantes importantes comprennent les résultats et en reconnaissent l'importance;
- Expérience avérée de la collaboration avec les gouvernements et les représentants des Premières Nations, fédéraux, provinciaux, territoriaux, du Nord, municipaux et internationaux;
- Entregent, esprit d'équipe et jugement;
- Aptitudes manifestes à la gestion du temps, à la planification et à l'organisation, et souci du détail;
- L'anglais est la langue de travail, cependant la capacité à communiquer efficacement en français ou dans une langue autochtone serait également un atout.
