Primary Focus
The Pharmaceutical Research and Policy Analyst works within multidisciplinary research teams to prepare well-structured reports, policy briefs, and visual presentations tailored to diverse audiences that address specific research and/or policy questions and support organizational objectives regarding pharmaceutical products.
What do the daily responsibilities look like?
On any given day, the Pharmaceutical Research and Policy Analyst will:
- work within multidisciplinary reviews teams to prepare reports that address pharmaceutical-related research and/or policy questions regarding pharmaceutical products
- analyze and interpret pharmaceutical reviews and health technology assessment (HTA) reports to extract key findings and trends
- maintain accurate records of tracked topics and synthesized outputs
- conduct comprehensive literature reviews, critical appraisals, evidence syntheses, and other relevant research activities, including indirect comparisons, meta-analyses, and systematic reviews
- distill complex scientific information into concise, digestible formats tailored for diverse audiences, including PowerPoint presentations, briefing notes, and executive summaries
- support other reviewers in the production of reports or other products as required
- track, monitor, and report on high-interest or emerging topics in the pharmaceutical and HTA landscape, ensuring all relevant parties in the organization are kept informed of relevant developments
- prepare and deliver presentations to communicate insights and recommendations as required
- act as an expert resource to others in all matters related to the critical appraisal of clinical studies, authoring of scientific reports, and relevant related topics or particular areas of expertise
- provide project status updates as required to the Manager, Program and Policy Development, to ensure appropriate conduct of projects, achievement of work priorities, job expectations, and compliance with systems, policies, and procedures
- support current program priorities and initiatives aligned with corporate objectives to enhance transparency and support evidence-based decision-making and continuous quality improvement.
Is this the right role for you?
The Pharmaceutical Research and Policy Analyst will likely have:
- a graduate degree in a health-related discipline (biostatistics, epidemiology, pharmacy, health economics, medicine) plus research experience and the ability to conduct critical appraisals, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and/or HTAs
- an understanding of the health care system in Canada, relevant legislation and regulations, and decision-making processes as they relate to our reviews
- excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated strength in scientific or technical report writing as well as the ability to speak effectively before expert groups and diverse audiences
- experience working collaboratively, prioritizing, and balancing multiple competing tasks effectively
- the ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- the ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
