Business Professional Services division works collaboratively and efficiently with clients and stakeholders providing timely and relevant services to strengthen business and management decisions, ensure strong governance, and position the organization effectively with stakeholders. This position involves research, analysis and project management across a wide set of policy issues in support of government priorities, corporate and divisional goals.

In particular, the Policy and Planning Analyst will support the Vice-President and branch Director Generals in delivering on divisional objectives and to ensure the NRC’s strategic plan, operating plan, innovation agendas and corporate accountabilities are tracked and measured. Elements such as the NRC’s digital renewal, service standards, business engagement and EDI will be supported.

The Analyst will conduct the necessary research, consultations, evaluations, analysis and propose course of action to the Vice-President and Director Generals. Recommendations will be evidence-based and results oriented considering both risks and opportunities.

The Policy and Planning Analyst will provide policy advice on complex matters such as cybersecurity, intellectual property, business development, international relations and government funding programs.

**Screening Criteria**:
**Education**:
Bachelor’s degree in sciences, engineering, business/public administration, law or in another field relevant to the position.

A graduate degree is considered an asset.

**Experience**:

- Significant experience working in a complex environment, serving a number of internal and external clients (including c-suite executives) and interacting with multiple stakeholders from government, industry and academia.
- Significant experience in research, analysis, drafting and presenting detailed and complex reports and briefing notes on issues related to innovation, government science and technology policy, and their relevance/implication for the NRC.
- Experience in corporate level planning, business and/or policy development in a government or business environment.
- Experience in events management including logistics coordination and budget development.
- Experience in monitoring and reporting on divisional activities, including ongoing engagement with branches and other NRC stakeholders and partners.
- Experience in developing and maintaining a network of contacts.

**Condition of Employment**:
Secret (II)

A Secret clearance must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

**Compensation**:
In addition, the incumbent who meets the language requirements will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
