We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist with the accounting background to join our team and help to drive the growth of Charge Solar and the industry as a whole. You’ll be joining a dedicated team of experienced solar professionals helping us make positive impact on the environment and continue to transform the way electricity is generated in Canada.

**Location**: Primarily Remote / work from home, but occasional in-office meetings in our Victoria, BC office

**Reports to**: Controller

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Process semi-monthly payroll for 60+ employees located across Canada
- Ensure compliance with all provincial (BC, AB, ON, NS and QC) and CRA legislation and other legal requirements
- Educate and provide updates to leadership around changing and updated labour laws to facilitate compliance at federal, state/provincial, and local levels
- Act as Group Benefits administrator
- Maintain current and accurate electronic employee records
- Liaise/coordinate with payroll service provider, benefit carrier
- Respond to payroll related employees’ inquiries
- File/reconcile WSIB, WCB, etc.
- Prepare year end activities including T-4s, government assessments, and reconciliations
- Ensure that confidential and sensitive data is protected, use discretion and maintain employee privacy around sensitive information
- Provide AR support to cover Pacific Time afternoons - CC payments, order release
- Provide data entry support to accounts payable

**Required Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of the Canadian Payroll Association program
- 2-5 years of experience processing payroll including YE reconciliations
- Extensive knowledge of governing Employment Standards legislation in BC, AB, ON, NS and QC
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Mid-to-advanced knowledge of Excel (V-lookup and pivot tables)
- Strong mathematical skills, and knowledge of basic accounting
- Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers, customers and others
- Solid organizational and time management skills; ability to support multiple locations and processes concurrently, continuously identifying and addressing competing priorities in a timely and effective manner
- Meticulous attention to detail while efficiently working under pressure

**Desired Qualifications**:

- College Diploma in Accounting
- Thorough knowledge of PayWorks HR/Payroll software
