Position Overview
Provide recreational and restorative services through planned activities which will help rehabilitate, activate, motivate and stimulate elders of the Long-Term Care Home.
**Responsibilities**:
Elders include seniors, adults with Alzheimer's disease or another type of dementia and frail seniors and adults with developmental disabilities. To encourage elders independence in recreation and other activities/programs as part of the recreation/restorative care philosophy. Carry out appropriate exercise, therapies, and programs using a variety of devices, techniques, adaptations and alternative means as necessary under the direction of staff and/or therapists. Encourage independence in recreational and other activities/programs as part of recreation/restorative care philosophy. Work with other department staff to develop new programs and activities. Liaise and work in cooperation with nursing, dietary, environmental services and therapy staff. Participate in community outings and fundraisers.
**Qualifications**:
Currently enrolled in a college or university in Recreation/Leisure studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology or a related field.
