Les Femmes Michif Otipemisiwak (LFMO) Women of the Métis Nation (WMN) is the recognized voice of Métis Women across the homeland. Our mission is to ensure that Métis Women are safe, connected, empowered, and have capacity to work with other Canadian and Métis organizations to help create the conditions for healthy, vibrant, and productive communities throughout the Métis Nation. We are supporting the addition of a Director of Gender-based Violence Initiatives to our LFMO team to lead activities that develop our MMIWG2S and Gender-based violence initiatives by developing and leading LFMO’s work on related policies, practices, and research.
Reporting directly to the President, the MMIWG2S Initiatives Coordinator supports LFMO’s mandate by leading our MMIWG2S implementation work, research, and policy development in partnership with the LFMO President and senior management colleagues. The MMIWG2S Initiatives Coordinator represents Métis women and LFMO at meetings and engagements, works on analyzing policy and legislation impacting our MMIWG2S initiatives and files, and facilitates discussion and community-based dialogues that relate to MMIWG2S issues. The National MMIWG2S Initiatives Coordinator oversees and leads our reporting out on Métis Women’s perspectives and priorities on this portfolio. The National MMIWG2S Initiatives Coordinator will also be LFMO’s lead at several MMIWG2S and related tables and committees, representing the interests of Métis Women.
**Responsibilities**
- Is the lead on MMIWG2S files as assigned, supporting the achievement and outcomes related to the file’s work plan and identified outputs.
- Engages in policy development, analysis, and research activities related to MMIWG2S and related files assigned.
- Lead activity on the MMIWG2S implementation plan strategy and actions.
- Identifies and provides timely strategic information and advice on current and emerging MMIWG2S policy issues relevant LFMO’s work, and that impact Métis Women.
- Implements workplan activities within the scope of LFMO program funding and initiatives.
- Achieves the goals and priorities of LFMO related to Métis Women’s impacts / involvement and interests related to MMIWG2S.
- Provides expert technical support to LFMO MMIWG2S advisory circles and committees: including planning and coordinating teleconferences and meetings, preparation of background materials, meeting notes, and ensures action/follow-up on committee recommendations.
- Plans and /or facilitates meetings, focus groups, teleconferences, webinars, and workshops as required including coordination of logistics.
- Develops workshop training tools, presentations, and meeting materials such as agendas, background information, and coordinate translation of same.
- Assists with project report writing, including organizing, compiling, and drafting reports and other materials related to projects and distributes final documents to all project stakeholders.
- Initiates, plans, supervises, and implements MMIWG2S related engagement activities with Métis Women.
- Work collaboratively with the leads on other files, including LFMO Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, Senior Directors and other LFMO staff as required.
