- Supporting Dr. T. Afzaal, the Medical Administrative Assistant is responsible for planning and monitoring the daily organization of the clinic/office and providing secretarial support to the Physician in their clinical practice, academic and research responsibilities. This includes, but is not limited to, answering of telephones and contacting patients; general reception duties; scheduling of patient appointments; liaising with other medical and health professionals to facilitate patient referrals; preparation of correspondence; letter transcription; transcribing clinical notes.
**Regular Full-Time**
**Rate of Pay** : $27.54 per hour - $34.42 per hour
**Hours of work**:37.5 hours per week
**Qualifications**:
- Successful completion of a two (2) year diploma in Medical Office administration, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by the hospital
- Minimum one year recent, related experience
- Computer software skills such as Cerner and Microsoft Suite
- Experience with Database management
- Experience with Dictatyping
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of OHIP billing procedures
- General bookkeeping and accounting skills
- Time Management and organization skills
- Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and be empathetic and sensitive to patient needs, as per hospital policies
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC?s Mission, Vision and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
