MARKETING SPECIALIST

**About the role**:
Reporting to the Convenience Retail Brand Manager, the Marketing Specialist (MS) is responsible for executing and delivering on the strategic marketing plans developed to meet the Convenience Retail (CR) and Fuel Brands business needs. The MS will execute marketing strategies for the business including base and expanded promotional offers, branded activations including vendor engagement, supporting national marketing contests and promotions, collaborating with agencies and freelancers to drive customer loyalty and revenue generation. The MS also supports fuel brand activities where required.

**Key activities**:
The Marketing Specialist is integral to the success of the convenience business and fuel brands, with areas of responsibility including:

- Lead the annual c-store promotional calendar, including managing the full-cycle workflow between vendors, CR and marketing.
- Manage in-store digital screen advertising efforts.
- Lead in executing additional expanded offers to grow CR business.
- Blend expanded promotions and contests into the annual calendar and lead campaigns where required.
- Act as the internal brand champion for local product positioning, including branded storytelling across digital and in-store. Connect the dots between the product, store execution and marketing campaigns.
- Co-lead in-market activations at locations or strategic partner locations, working collaboratively with store partners, agencies, and freelancers.
- Support content creation for paid, earned, shared, and owned media channels for convenience brand.
- Recommend and identify new opportunities in digital landscape to grow fuel and c-store sales. Work with agency and freelancers that support digital execution (social media, website, digital media, etc.).
- Plan, coordinate, and execute specific marketing initiatives related to the fuel retail industry and support Fuel Brands Manager with retailer, dealer and internal communications where required.
- Support strategic projects, research and other initiatives where required.
- Lead day-to-day functions of third-party delivery partnerships including internal compliance, menu strategy, pricing management, and internal stakeholder communications. Co-lead national strategy planning, implementation, and communications between all stakeholder groups.

**Skills/attributes desired**:

- Post-secondary degree (BCom/BA) in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- Proficient in Design, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Internet Marketing Services (i.e., Uberall), Google My Business, Facebook Ads, Adobe Suite Programs, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Community Management experience (Facebook/IG/Twitter).
- Knowledge of Convenience & Gas industry or retail industry.
- Go-getter, ambitious, positive, and curious with a self-starter attitude.
- Enthusiasm for supporting local communities and storytelling/communications.
- Passion for branded experiences, customer engagement and communication.
- Experience in the following considered an asset: Mailchimp, Social Media Management Software, WordPress/Website.
