**Salary Range**: $36.46**Posting Date**: October 8, 2024- **Note: As per the collective agreement, probationary employees will receive 5% less than the regular permanent rate of the classification they are employed in, until the completion of four (4) months continuous service or eighty (80) actual days worked, whichever is the greater. **The Role**
- Assigns, delegates, coordinates, directs, and oversees the performance of concrete-related repairs and maintenance (e.g., sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, manholes) and winter roads maintenance work, ensuring quality of work and timely performance. Works alongside crews daily, performing same functions as crews. Provides technical guidance to crews regarding procedures, equipment, and products. Assists management to set annual priorities and schedule.

**Duties/Responsibilities**
- Reviews daily work programs with supervisor and provides information regarding daily work progress. Assists supervisor to plan/schedule annual programs and set priorities.
- In spring, summer, and fall, works as a lead hand for concrete program. In fall and winter, works as a lead hand in roads maintenance. In either case, performs work of concrete and roads/plowing crews approximately 50% of the time, including for absences, peaks, and breaks.
- Coordinates day-to-day concrete repairs/maintenance and road winter maintenance work. Prioritizes, monitors, and distributes work orders/assignments to crews. Determines staffing and material requirements, makes arrangements, and prepares work schedules with input from crews. Coordinates borrowing of equipment and staff from other sections, as required.
- Operates vehicles and equipment (e.g., plow truck, loaders; compaction, finishing, small motorized tools; saws, jackhammers, compressors, lifting/hoisting devices), and ancillary equipment.
- Develops work plans and reviews site conditions giving consideration to proximity of utilities, properties, traffic, and other factors. Stakes out locations and arranges resources and services.
- Performs concrete-related repairs and maintenance to sidewalks, curbs, catch basins, and manholes. Breaks up concrete and prepares areas for repair. Builds frames/forms; sets/ties steel; pours, spreads, and finishes concrete. Uses levelling device to ensure proper grading. Mixes concrete by hand/using equipment and for appropriate consistency. Uses asphalt for repairs as required.
- Performs general roads maintenance activities (e.g., hot/cold patching) and snow/ice control activities, including winter drainage and snow fencing. Uses hand and power tools, and oxygen-acetylene torches to cut metal components on culverts, storm sewers, and plows. Installs and removes equipment (e.g., blades, harnesses, spreaders).
- Organizes and sets up own work, including site and equipment clean up, circle checks, traffic protection plans, and grease and fluid top-ups. Maintains corporate vehicles in proper, safe, good working condition, troubleshoots malfunctions, and performs minor repairs and parts replacement. Informs supervisor or corporate fleet regarding equipment issues and service/repair requirements.
- Patrols to monitor work performed by staff and contractors, inspect and update inventory/state of work in database, and identify and coordinate work requirements to resolve hazards and immediate roads maintenance needs.
- Participates to develop quality and service level standards. Researches and assists to develop new equipment specifications and procedures. Develops and maintains procedures for concrete-related
